What is POTTER COLOURS’ policy on re-blogging whitewashed!Fred Weasley II material?
Seeing as POTTER COLOURS only recently returned from hiatus and we have a lot of new followers, we figure we should clarify what our policy is on tumblr material where Fred Weasley II — and other POC Harry Potter characters, but it’s Fred II who gets the worst of this problem, along with possibly Blaise Zabini — is whitewashed (ie. represented by white actors for fancastings or drawn as white or coding as white).
Simple — we don’t tolerate that racist practice, so we won’t reblog any of it UNLESS it’s part of anti-racist commentary on the issue. Likewise, we’re not interested in all-POC-are-interchangeable fancastings either (eg. Shay Mitchell as Roxanne Weasley or the Patil twins), so don’t expect to see any of that either, except in the aforementioned critical case. And we don’t think we have to explain what our policy on things like Blackface are — it should be self-evident at this point that it’s a big no here.
